BILL NICHOLLS

Bill Nicholls was educated at Clark’s College, Romford, from where, at the age of 14, he joined The Times at Printing House Square as a messenger. In 1937 he transferred to Readers where he worked as a copyholder on the day staff — under his father.

Gerard D. Whyte (1950 - 1953)

Thank you for your email. See attached scans of two letters and class photograph as a zip folder. Apologies for the quality of the photograph and text, they may be a little hard to read. I hope it contributes to whatever records you are making. Incidentally, Mr. Skellon was the man who appointed me initially.

I was a tutor in Clarks College, Romford, Essex from 1950 to 1953.I do have a photo somewhere of the class which I tutored and the names of some of the students. When I find them I will send you copies, if you are interested. I, myself, would be glad to have any information you might have as to how any of those students got on subsequently.

Gerard D. Whyte
